Going downtown!
Even tho’ the streets were dirty, the car parks empty and the sight of no one on the streets, you sensed pretty easily that you were in a area of the city that has lived a lot. The morning smell of petrol or gasoline wafting in the air was somewhat nice to smell. Not that I like smelling petrol in the morning, but at this moment in time, the landscape, the buildings, what I was seeing with my eyes, what my senses was experiencing….I felt good, I even smiled.

This is downtown L.A, the financial district. Having been there a few times…and yes folks you do need a car to get around. I have still yet to try their local transport but considering every other person has a car, its best to have one yourself. But anyway going back to this photo I took.
It was actually shot from the Westin Bonaventure behind a glass, the CitiGroup Center tower looked good, reminded me of those 80’s actions films such as Beverly Hills Cop. L.A is cool and like London it also has its dark and seedy side, but it a city isn’t a city if it wasn’t black and white…it’d be boring if it was just one colour

Gib: You know what? I’m sick of being in the van. You guys are going to be in the van next time. I’ve been in the van for 15 years, Harry

I took this photo a few years back, actually 2006 to be slightly more precise, it was taken on the way to Sequoia National Park, I was about 4 hours away so still had a long way to go. The sun does look beautiful in the morning, rising slowly, basking her rays across the wild lands of America

London has never impressed me in a way that I would want to photograph it. I don’t know what it is, but I don’t feel inclined to take a photo when in London. I don’t get the drive, I don’t sense the passion, plus I don’t see the need in carrying my camera around with me everyday in the hope of catching something, I clearly don’t suscribe to the thought that you should have it by your side at all times purely I don’t want to….if i miss the shot…i miss the shot…tomorrow is another day….
…After 10 years of taking photographs all over the world, I’d thought it best to try and photograph london the way I see it day to day…
